It's all bullshit. They dont want a DOF because they will demand money is spent.

The only ones they want in power, are those who know the secret that the club is only here to make money and as little that can be spent to do that the better.

Actual football heads wouldnt want to be a part of that .

Their tactic just seems to be do what you can to delay. They surely want to sell us at some point and are doing what they can to get that as late as possible.

Scar, for the umpteenth time; there’s no-one to sell us to. Nobody would dream of paying the required sum for a business that makes £30-40m a year profit, that has to be re-invested in the playing staff, while being saddled with £500m in debt, a decaying stadium and expectant fan base. It’s not going to happen. They’re here forever. Their kids will be at games in 2040 and giving themselves dividend rises despite the debt reaching a bil. It’s a wrap. We’re their family cash cow forever. Only bankruptcy can save us, or maybe being re-floated somehow.

What is a director of football going to do that a manager can't?

Be there when the manager is sacked and replaced.

Clubs do better when they dont have to scrap the long term plan when the manager gets binned.

We’d be getting close to selling our best players territory, if we had any that would generate decent fees in the current climate..

Imo, obvs.

If you think back to the scare stories in 2005 it’s now worse than anyone predicted.

Just been a slow and painful death when the expectation at the time was that it would be quick

Occasionally the selling club calls their bluff, agreeing to United’s preferred payment terms (never, never and add-ons) and they end up buying; Di Maria, Pogba, Lukaku... Maguire the exception, they paid for him on the nose I think.

Which is why we won't get one, Woodward making up for his lack of chin by keeping as much control as he can.

Am I remembering this right, under Jose there were briefings saying that Jose would never work under a DoF, and that's why we couldn't get one. Then Jose said he'd be more than willing to work under the fella that turned Monaco into a force by bringing through insane talent and making smart transfer decisions, and then did the same at Lille.

And the board were like: "... Nah...."

Its never going to happen. The DoF briefings are on an Outlook reminder scheduled for every 10 months, and Ed bangs out a briefing to his press gimp whatever his name is again.

@#%&!s. Massive @#%&!s.

Whilst not great it does feel the process of renewal is underway. We have moved on:

Lukaku/Fellani/Smalling/Young/Sanchez/Valencia/Darmian (the 1st Phase)

Perera/Lingard/Dalot/Jones/Rojo (the 2nd Phase) 9 gone 3 marginalised

We've promoted some good young talent (Greenwood, The Scottish Player, Tuanzabe, Williams). Rashford had developed amazingly.

We've bought some good talent (Bruno, DVD)

Phase 3 needs some renewal Mata/Matic/Bailly/Ighalo + some loans James and some little decisions Fosu-Mensah and two biggies Pogba and De Gea.

The squad looks much stronger and more dynamic but lacks consistency and determination and a clear style. The physicality has got better - AWB and The Scottish Player get stuck in as does Fred. Quality has improved massively some of the goals we score are proper United.

Maguire needs to step up if he wants to be club captain and become a force. If he can't be the leader we need then he becomes big decision 3.

Have they though..? They’re back in the PL, for 7 games so far. Long way to go before they can be considered ‘back’ to where they were..

Their fans may be the best judge of that.

The point being Ole has already turned the tanker around.
