Thanks for that netbuster against Arsenal in the community sheild.

Thanks for finishing off one of our greatest european moves against Roma and sending the stadium into pandemonium.

All the best at Newcastle and im sure you'll play alot more for them.

But, he gave 100% for us. OK, he wasn't the best player in our team, by a long chalk, but he did well for us at times.

Also, he was shown at some motorbike GP once, on the pit-lane. He was walking about all starry-eyed at being so close to the stars of the race. BBC interviewed him and he came across as very down-to-earth. And with today's obscenely overpaid footballers, that, my friends, is a rarity.

I don't think I can bring myself to hate him, but I'm not really upset or worried at his departure.

Likes his bikes (don't we all) I think he was a bmx champion in his youth.

"Born 20-10-1980 in a small suburb of Leeds called Rothwell (About 6 miles east of the centre).

Unlike most pro footballers Alan didn’t start playing football till a relatively late age of 10. His first love was BMX biking. He soon developed a high skill level for the sport and became national champion at the age of 8. One that really made people believe his future lay in the pro BMX circuit. But as the costs of travelling and equipment took its toll, Alan and his brother decided kicking a football about was a cheaper alternative. "

Goodbye Yorkshire's rose,
Though you never proved yourself at OT
At least you had the grace
To piss the Leeds fans off.

Now crawl back to the woodwork
And whisper through your purple lips
How you never settled here
And how you want to win with the Geordies.

It seems to me you lived your life
Like someone pissing in the wind
The scousers rocked your ambulance
and by United, you've been binned.

I find myself nearly in tears at such a lovely poem.

Smudger did like a bike ride, too. I saw him in Alderly Edge one, with a fit bint in his convertable beemer, two mountain bikes somehow attached to the back. Oh how I will miss the site of thee. At least your dyed hair will go down well with those geordies. Now we can hate you again

Big sam passed the contract to Smith who managed to get into a good physical challenge with a nearby onlooker ending in a free kick out.

That explains the tears and sudden heartbreak, although to me its still a poem etched from the genius mind of Spiffy.

he might not ultimately have been good enough but his effort, passion and determination could not be questioned

in fact if you applied that statement to any player born within a manc postcode they should be automatic first teamers according to half the plums on here
