Well normally Joachim would be pronounced Yoackeem or Yockem depending on where you're from.

You don't pronounce the Us on the ends of names in, er....where he's from.

like Peter Ndlovu.

what about dirk kuyt? every commentator calls him something different...koit, kite, kout, and im sure clive tyldesley calls him koo-jit.

I have a system for this one.

Simply say the word 'cowt' in a strong Wigan accent.

'Kuyt' is what you get.

If think it should be somewhere between an 'h' and a 'k'. I also think it means bread. Anyone know any better?

Yes.

In Belarusian it's spelt with a Г (G). Not sure why we transcribe it with an H, unless it's something to do with the Russian word for 'bread'.
