Saw a recent interview or book excerpt with the german doctor who resigned under guardiola at Bayern Munich. Said guardiola was falling out with him because he wasn’t getting the players fit quickly enough when they were injured. Wonder how his preferred doctors manage to satisfy that requirement.

Bayern have just rehired him apparently.

He was shit whenever he played there for van gaal. Which wasn’t often, because he was shit whenever it happened.

Class act at CB in 15/16. The likes of Aguero, Lukaku etc stacked up in Daley’s pocket.

How many times has he been played in his position since he came? Defensive midfield/ pivot? You can count on one hand. No hard feelings at all to this lad, he's gives 100% wherever he gets asked to play. Hope he gets a move to a football team and wish him all the luck in the world.

Yep he even started the following season really well at CB, big Dunc Castles reporting that Jose had been impressed, then he had a horror show in one game (Chelsea?) and was taken out straight away. Not sure if he was ever picked at CB again.

This.

Confident on the ball too and can play a pass to feet, how quaint.

No idea why we haven't at least tried him sat in front of the back 4, his passing ability is easily as good as anyone's in the side.

It’s a Dutch thing, Ajax......

Taught from a very early age....

in Dutch-influenced curricula, the typical task of a player in the ‘number six’ / false 6 position is to stay mobile between central midfield lines to support the defence during build up play and to feed the attacking movement of players in transition.

They must do this by absolving the off-ball positional and on-ball possession-based pressure from their attacking full-backs and midfielders, to best allow progression of the team’s attack without committing unnecessary turnovers or reducing the space from which to attack from.
Hence, this necessitates being tactically astute in one’s positional awareness and technically astute in one’s dribbling, turning and passing ability, in order to be a quick executer on and off the ball in all phases of transition.

It demands being press resistant, having a high level of concentration and a masterful passing range and vision. Defensively, their task is typically auxiliary in dominating the defensive transition, creating a block with the centre-backs and screening the passing lines to the opponent’s central strikers.

Basically - it’s a concept that mastering transition moments allows you to enforce your defensive solidity in protecting the half-spaces and best create high quality goal-scoring opportunities, there is no position that fits more inherently to this style than the false 6
