Never had a problem with Smith. A good bloke, very down to earth and gave everything in the Red shirt. Smashed his leg to bits charging down a shot at Anfield on a day when every other united player was ambling about not giving a £#%&! in one of our now customary tame anfield surrenders.

Great goals against Norwich and Roma.

At least he looked arsed.

Better attitude than most of the @#%&!s at our place who actually believe they are the second incarnation of Zico.

He started so well too, looked a class up from what wed seen at Leeds but the Rooney signing stuck him straight on the bench and he never recovered.

Shit signing overall it has to be said.

Stormer against Chelsea too when we beat them 1-0 through Fletcher.

Cant believe hever NEVER scored for Newcastle, even in the Championship FFS that is utterly embarrassing.

This. Not sure what more people wanted from him, I seem to remember he was the only player who scored any goals at the start of the 06 (??) season. Was never, ever a midfielder but it was hardly his fault he got put there tbf.

A case of question the signing, not the player.

don't understand the slating of smith. If anyone that has to be criticized for that it has to be fergie. Bought as a striker, played as a defensive midfielder. Ruined him imo.

He could have been better used as a battering ram.

Smith - but then it's clear this forum is split along style of player lines.

I liked his attitude and always thought he was misused at Utd. I am also a fan of the big No9 and think there's always a role for a player like that.

I wish him all the best - but then I have issues in my life that mean I couldn't really hate a fella for doing his job kicking a ball. I'd rather have had Smith in the middle v City than Anderson that day.

Good pairing to be honest - hard tackling a good fry-up. What more do you want?

No 'I' in team but 'meat' and there's enough British Beef there to do the job.

Where have we heard that before.

Kleberson was a world cup winner and Djemba Djemba was arguably the first/second Essien but SAF just doesn't know how to deal with players who can't kick and rush.
