How about explaining how the Germans have gone about protecting their back 4 whilst allowing their full backs to bomb forward? "Oh they've done well" Great Alan, just great. |

argentina have had some joy since they switched di maria to their right, lahm had him in his pocket before that, but germany really could be out of sight by now. tremendous work from podolski and muller, giving a fantastic demonstration of how to play the role of advanced midfielder/wide support strikers. klose, for all his poor finishing, has been superb with and without the ball, giving the argentinian defence nightmares with his movement and workrate.
by the looks of things, mascherano has been detailed to track ozil and has largely kept him quiet but this means he's sitting very deep and schweinsteiger and khedira have had far too much time and space to dictate the play, argentina need to find a way to disrupt them and i wouldn't be surprised to see either tevez dropping deep or veron or pastore coming on at some point. terrible performance from the referee, btw, missing all sorts of tactical fouls, especially by mascherano and, to a lesser extent, podolski, and then giving a hollywood card to muller for a handball that was questionable at best (the ball ricocheting off the argentinian player, then sliding off muller's chest and touching his arm, the arm not moving towards the ball at any stage). a free kick would be fair enough, though open to discussion imo, but a yellow which will keep muller out of the semi should germany get through is a ridiculous decision, a good example of a referee's lack of common sense harming the spectacle. |

Interesting stat about Messi - only one goal in his last 20 International's (& that was a Pen) Interesting. I guess he only looks good playing for Barca' because he's surrounded by great players. Or is it only English players that have that nonsense thrown in their faces?? Love the way Maradona prowls his technical area...it's £#%&! all to do with communicating with his players, he just can't wait to get a touch of the ball He loves it. A little chip back into the arms of the throw-in taker I'd love to see him win the World Cup as manager, but he has so many utter bastards in his team that I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Germany see this one through. Were we really linked with that Di maria? £#%&!ing awful footballer. |
