Depends on what you're using them for, where, when and how long you want them to last.

Personally wouldn't touch shoes, but I use the boots for carrying 30+ kgs on my back.

Half a Proclaimer or half of The Proclaimers?

I've decided that I'm going to walk 999 miles this year.

It's the avoidance of Proclaimers-based 'gags' that are making me walk 999 miles rather than 1000.

(that and in recognition of the phone number of the lads who came to save my life. GBOL TBF)

Salamon fit me really well and are very comfy but ultimately quite shit. About as water resistant as tissue paper.

Adidas terrex - Iíve loads of the trainers and mates have the boots and like them but expect to be tutted at in the hills by the purists. A decent shout in my view.

I have these and they come highly recommended. But Iíve only just got them so too early to review. But I got sick of salamons being shit.

Had these for a while now

Much prefer the shoe to the boot

Boots a bit restrictive around the ankles

Plus, if you are sat in a cafe and thereís a group of birds opposite, shoes are better for showing your socks off

Bit more boring from me:

Covered loads of miles in them, I'd guess 3 to 4K, and never had a single problem. 100% waterproof, comfy (the comfiest boots I've ever had actually, they grip my foot like a friendly hand), maybe a little slippery on wet rock.

Admittedly we never venture too far off the beaten track, but they have happily taken a fair bit of pounding.

Problem though: I was so happy with them, I recently bought a second pair. The build quality of the second pair seems to have changed a bit, but only time will tell if they have reduced in quality.
