so i've voted giggs, mainly to piss off poppy.

You could see poppy made this thread to prove a point about Giggs, unfortunately for him it's backfired.

Yup. Him coming 4th out of a grand total of 5 is really backfiring.

And anyone choosing him before the genius that is Paul Scholes is obviously a bit tapped anyway, so their scores don't really count.

Point made.

Next.

Contradicting yourself in those first 2 sentences ever so slightly

At 20 years of age Giggs is the best player on that list. he may not have become the player he could have been, but his potential at that age far surpasses Keane, Eric, Robson and Scholes. Giggs was so good so early the expectations on him became unrealistic. The others developed at a slower pace and did not have such hype.

Scholes for example only really started to hold down a first team place when he was 22/23. he had his breakthrough season in 94/95, but it was not until 97/98 that he started more than 16 league games.

But what is the point of entering into a discussion over Giggs with Poppy, he damms him with faint praise and only highlights his negative points.

In European Competition( the highest standard of football in the world) Giggs is the best player United have ever had, the one who has consistently performed against the best on the continent year in year out.

Im too young to remember Robson in his prime, so ill have to exclude him. Of the rest - Giggs. A close second would be Scholes followed by Beckham, who isnt on the list, but really should be.

Looks like im dismissing Cantona, but he joined us at 26, and i dont know much about his career before then...besides from what ive read. So at 20 - Giggs.

at 20 years of age Giggs was obviously the best player on that list.

In their prime i'd take a Robbo or Keano over any of them though, the best two United players since Best.

Fully agree.
At twenty Scholes was behind Ince Keane and Butt, Giggs has been a match winner since he was 18-19.
Good left wingers are rarer than rocking horse poo world class ones even rarer.
Why do you think so many teams have changes there way of playing to adapt a support striker playing from the left inwards e.g Pires, Joe Cole
