He is nowhere near as "finished" as Fletcher.

For that reason alone we need him back.

Nowhere near finished. His style of play and a couple of grafters next to him, movement ahead of him and he'll be class.

Nothing wrong with relying on experienced, intelligent and proven footballers.

You only have to listen to the players talk about Carrick to understand how much they value him.
