Too much is read in press conferences . What do you expect him to say ? “ we were poor in training all week” . Press conferences are an excuse to just say the same sound bites and cliches . Suppose it’s expected when it’s dictated by ridiculous questions asked by journalists who generally in their trade aren’t the most honest or respectful, and that’s me putting it nicely.

I've said it before and will again, football "journalism" is eerily similar to political "journalism".

And both things would be better off if it basically vanished entirely.

Didn't we give this clown a new contract in the summer, that they delayed announcing after he humiliated us in the final ?

Is that latter claim actually correct? Again, genuine question.

No. I said that on here as a lie though, so that might have been where the confusion came from.

How is he still here, ffs?

We've just been battered 0-5 at Old Trafford by Liverpool.

Surely just let him go, and give the job to someone like Fletcher as caretaker until we get a new manager sorted.

The investment the players will have in Solskjaer right now will be at rock bottom. Just end the pain, and let him go out with some partial dignity intact.

It just comes across as a bit cruel, I agree. And even if we win tomorrow (not an absolute impossibility given the state Spurs are themselves in) it won't change anything fundamental, surely.

It’ll only bring more confusion. The board must be pretty close to sacking him. A win only prolongs all this.

It just continues the humiliation for the club, the team and the man himself imo. There's nothing to be gained from keeping him in charge.

If the club were to move on from the Ferguson era as you all seem to want..

Just what to you think a Glazer owned football club would look like?

Run as a as cash cow by accountants as a proxy for American property speculators, trading around the world on the history of the club with no interest in adding to it, merely milking its assets to a bank roll furthur acquisitions.

The Glazers have no ambition to improve the club even top four is a metric for the bean counters to judge the yes-men they prefer running the football side

Er, something like we've seen over the last 16 years?

Swinging wildly from one manager to the next on a slow decline as there is no direction from the owners.
Ole has brought in recognizably Utd figures to give a consistent purpose unfortunately he wasn’t successful enough to wrest control of transfers from the accountants and has now run his course.
I firmly believe there is much of the current regime that can and should be salvaged.
The structure in place must survive long enough for a considered and evolutional appointment to be made or further decline rather than a return to the top is the more likely.

The only reason that he's still in charge is because he's a club legend and a fan favourite. Anybody else would have been hounded out of the club by now. As i've said before - we've sacked greater managers for far less. We all want him to do well but wishing isn't going to make it so.

If the club had any kind of competent directors running the place they'd have been sizing up a replacement when we £#%&!ed up the Europa League final against the Spanish Equivalent of Burnley. They're probably scrambling around behind the scenes now like cockroaches after the kitchen light has been flipped on, in a mad panic because none of them even considered that things would deteriorate this fast.

They'll have Ferguson in their ear now telling them to hold their nerve and persist with him but all they'll see is their precious top 4 fast disappearing over the horizon. I have no idea what they hope is going to happen from here because this isn't a one-off freak performance that Ole can put right. The entire team has been wretched going back to the end of last season and it's getting worse.

As i've said they're just kicking the can down the road and buying themselves time while they £#%&!ing flap behind the scenes. The incompetent clowns.

Quite true so it’s the idea that good times are merely a new manager away thats absurd.

No, there's no guarantee of 'good times' no matter who you employ as manager.

However, you'd give yourself a better chance of improving the team and, whisper it, maybe even winning something, if you had a manger who's total sum experience of managing wasn't Molde and Cardiff.

Ole has been stupid and arrogant in thinking he was capable of going toe to toe with the top managers in the prem without seriously qualified assistants I will not deny
But the club is disfunctional on so many levels any progress will be inevitably be slow.
Not buying a midfielder in the summer instead being bounced into signing Ronaldo is what has destroyed this season not getting beat by a motivated rival in good form.
