Think so?

Wasn’t there pictures of him and his old man being shown around Carrington or something like that?

Don’t recall, but it was definitely a done deal. I think £6m and then Kenyon came in with £12m. Fergie fuming and £#%&!ed it off. Should have matched the £12m in hindsight.

Easy to forget but Chelsea at that time felt more of a big deal than City when it came to money. I guess because they were suddenly taking our targets. Just bought everyone. Was gutted when they took Essien.

Yup, took Geoff Watson too who I think was the one who had scouted Robben.

Casually taking Makelele from Madrid

Essien, Drogba and Cole the next summer? While we just bagged Park and VdS.

Thankfully we sorted ourselves out and got Vida, Evra and Carrick in the space of six months for about £30m

Isn’t it Woodward’s job to buy who the manager wants and not make such judgements himself? It only matters whether ole is hesitating. Woodward’s thoughts on football and players shouldn’t come into it. Is concern over not being proven at the highest level woodward code for not commercially valuable enough?

It’s Woodward’s job to have an opinion and an idea. Unfortunately he’s deeply unqualified to do so.

Can imagine him pumping 70 and loads of Zeros into an MUFC calculator, sweating, glancing up at Joel...
