Remember the United end chanting Everton as they did their lap of defeat.

And giving Elton Welsby plenty of abuse. He was in that box half way down the terrace.

And seen Mike Sweeney that day.

What a game that first Saturday was. Graham Moseley performing minor miracles in the Brighton goal, Wilkins' curler, Michael £#%&!ing Robinson Bailey's save at the end.

I still can't believe Smith missed.... what a result

the replay was great in its own way but too easy for the Reds really and the first game was a cup final classic....see also 1990....went to both games that time though and the first one was amazing...Hughesy!!!

He had too much time if anything, panicked and shot it straight into Bailey. If Gary's honest he'd admit he doesn't know how the ball stuck in his legs like that.

Must have been great to be there. Don't think United used a sub for either game? Different era.

he defo panicked ....actually some of our recent misses have been Smithesque but Bailey didn't panic although you're right he didn't know too much about it

Gary done well, came out fast and spread himself.

Definitely better than he did at the end of '79.

too right.....still can't believe he missed that cross

we didn't deserve that ending after coming back....but at least we've been paying most teams back for it ever since, right up to last Sunday
