That's a false dichotomy

Both statements are correct: he was a great man manager. And he would also gladly f*** over his own family if it meant he got what he wanted.

Probably all managers of senior position in any company and or sport are the same. It's what splits them apart... doing what is required to get the best out of the people to get the best results.

if you did well under Fergie he would look after you - if you helped the greater good he'd look after you.

The work and effort he put in to try and keep Paul McGrath off the booze or just behaving back in the 80's was fantastic.
