Wayne got a bit fustrated towards the end of the game, played his socks off imo, wasn't easy for him with a new partner up front, no real understanding between them but that is to be expected, totally expect a big improvement in rooney when carlos returns to the side.

Berbataov does a Ronaldo, from Football 365:

Quote:
Dimitar Berbatov's position at Tottenham looks increasingly untenable after he asked to be given the chance to "follow my dream".

The Bulgaria striker, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United for much of the summer, did not to allude to Sir Alex Ferguson's side by name but with the Red Devils believed to be inching ever closer to agreeing a fee the striker, the implications of his words are clear.

"I'm now in Tottenham but no one can disagree with me wanting to follow my dream," he told The Times ahead of his country's midweek friendly with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Ferguson has not made a formal offer for the player since seeing a first bid of £20.5million turned down but with Cristiano Ronaldo still out injured and Carlos Tevez missing due to a bereavement, United's shortcomings up front were laid bare against Newcastle in Sunday's 1-1 draw.

That means Tottenham's hand is as strong as it has been since negotiations began and a deal now looks certain to be completed before the end of the month.

Emil Dantchev, the 27-year-old's agent, said: "We have two more weeks until the end of the transfer window and I think this will be the most important week. I read Alex Ferguson's statement that he wants another striker and I hope that this striker is Dimitar Berbatov."

The player himself, meanwhile, has already started steeping himself in United folklore after he took his demotion to the bench with noticeable frustration.

"If I had been laughing when I was on the bench, people would say I was an idiot," he said.

"Eric Cantona never smiled, but I don't know if anyone ever asked him why he didn't look happier."
Well except presumably it aint Madrid he's on about..

A poster on RI claims Utd have a permit for Manucho now but the lad's injured. Can anyone confirm? I thought they were applying for one but were waiting for a verdict?

Deal's off according to this article from F365 based on absolutely nothing;

http://www.football365.com/story/0,1...005347,00.html

Tottenham are expected to remain reluctant to sell Dimitar Berbatov despite the Bulgaria striker submitting a formal transfer request on Friday.

ah the phantom transfer request.

never happened.

The fact Manuch got a squad number would suggest he has or will be getting the required permit.

They gave him that squad number when they signed him, in January, despite knowing he wouldn't be playing for us.

I think so. I may be wrong. 26 certainly rings a bell. I remember reading about it somewhere. They gave Rodrigo his number at the same time.

Manucho is apparently injured. Out for 3 months if reports are correct.

That has been the case since the beginning of pre-season in mid-July, so he should be fit in a month or so.

It doesn't really matter to United though, I wouldn't have thought, unless we need the proceeds from his sale to fund a move for a striker.

I'm sure the re-application hearing is the end of this month. I remember reading an article about it.
