Question When soccer truly does take off in the US...is the EPL £#%&!ed?

Why would the best players want to play here when they can play in New York, California, Florida etc. for presumably more money.

Don't see it happening as 'soccer' will never be the main sport in the US, whereas it is in all the main European countries.

Also, surely players are interested in history/prestige/glory of playing in European competition, as opposed to the New York Red Wings or the Colorado Cop Killers.

Wasn't it supposed to take off when Pele, Beckenbauer and Best went over there? Then when USA '94 happened? It's never come close to challenging baseball, basketball and that weird one where they wear helmets and sumo suits and bump into each other.

Why would they want to play in England when they can already play in Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Paris or Munich for more money? There's room enough for the U.S. to really embrace football and this country will still be one of the best places to play football

Nobody really cares about history except fans of historical clubs and tourists. Ever heard of a little club called Manchester City? Make no mistake, US clubs start offering PL/Madrid/PSG size wages, players will be flocking there faster than you can say £#%&! YEAH!

Don't underestimate the American dream, pal.

It will never be as big as NFL/NBA/MLB (too entrenched and too many with vested interests also who will continue to belittle football every chance they get) but I can see it replacing Ice Hockey as the 4th sport. Image wise it's still seen as a sport for kids, women and Mexicans/The Help. But this is changing steadily.

Perhaps players might not want their kids to go to a school where there's a good chance that one of their classmates might go on a rampage at any given moment.

City haven't signed a single, established, world-class player from a large club.

Aguero didn't come from one of the elite clubs, and Yaya Toure wasn't world-class at Barcelona.

Many players still care about things like the history and reputation of a club. Look at Van Persie, ffs.

It's a decent league, great facilities, good money, good country and decent level and it's only going to get better.

But as far as taking over the BPL, EPL or any other Acronym league then no chance, players want to play in Europe because there's so many clubs to choose from and there's a competition called the Champions League (or European Cup for those with a decent footballing history) which is pretty £#%&!ing good.

Not many teams have, but Robinho, Tevez, Adebayor, Nasri, Toure, Balotelli and Aguero were all seen as pretty big coups at the time.
