I don’t think any of you are taking into account the cost implications here. We’re probably talking £20-30m to fire Ole and all his staff, assuming that whoever comes in wants to bring their own, and that’s without release fees and any of that shit.

The owners have designs on it working like Chelsea; everything behind the scenes right up to Roman remains the same and is slickly oiled machine, all that changes is the head coach and maybe 3 or 4 of his preferred higher-up coaches.

At United the poor £#%&!er coming in is in charge of the whole shebang. Youth system, scouting, medical, designing the training ground, approving Brenda the tea lady’s holidays, finding someone to paint the main stand. £#%&!ing everything. Everyone has determined that everybody involved in coaching right through the club is shit, so we’re back to square one. Conte and Zidane aren’t sorting all that shit out. We need a manager, not a head coach. Nobody has come in and taken on a job like this anywhere.

Whoever comes in isn’t going to sack the directors of football and I imagine Carrick will be safe

I think part of the problem is we’ve tried to replicate what other sides have done but on the cheap

While that's a bit of an exaggeration it's basically that the owners just don't get football. They don't like it, they're not passionate about it, I can accept they might enjoy our (occasional) victories but it doesn't make them tick, it's just another £#%&!ing portfolio to them.

We're not a club that faces the future with confidence, we're forever looking backwards. Last three appointments were stuck in the past, Ole was a hopeful punt but in the end it's Fregglism without Freggle.

I don't know what we need, a Director of Football or what, but we sure could use Direction of Football.
