anyway, we've moved on from speculating about whether de gea would have saved them to speculating about what fredsters would have said if he hadn't. they would have been critical, on the basis that none of those was unstoppable. a couple of players having far too much time and space doesn't change whether the goalkeeping was suboptimal.

as noted from the start, onana should not be expected to make miraculous saves like de gea used to.

I don't blame him any more than I blame you for not being aware of your own ignorance.

You would have to be stupid to blame the keeper for his sub-optimal positioning on those goals, when the positioning of the defenders in front of him is such a shit show. It’s almost like the 2 things are related.

I take back what I said about the 3rd goal yesterday though, I turned off in a mood immediately after it went in. Viewing the other angles, he definitely should have stopped it

If Godwin Enakhena withdraws his support, ETH is toast.

ETH probably jumped the shark on this one.....I get why he went for his man while he was available, but...

De Gea didn't need to be replaced right away, golden glove & a popular leader in the dressing room...(probably didn't go down well with the players the way he was dumped out.)

Casemiro is looking gassed, Varane is always injured... the club keeps buying past their prime legends that are going to need to be replaced soon.

Well, maybe that was part of the problem?

it's a fantastic achievement that someone born without hands can become Manchester United keeper

I still think he'll make a difference, but doesn't seem that we are playing to his apparent strengths. I thought the whole point was that he can play more of a sweeper role allowing the defence to push up, but we're still playing so deep.

Can't accept we signed him to stand in his six yard box passing to Dalot and back again.

Yeah it’s fine that teams can walk through our defence for free shots on goal in the area. Do your job Onana.

I would be more worried about how our defensive midfielder looks like he’s playing in a soccer aid match at the moment.

You mean the defense who were 100% responsible for all the clean sheets we had last season?

Apparently he’s faced 10 shots on target this season and conceded 7.

Two things can be correct at the same time. Defence was dreadful and Onana should be doing better.

He could have maybe done better for the 3rd.

DDG one of our most experienced players last season was dreadful in a derby cup final ffs.

DDG had to play behind Maguire ffs. The most derided defender of his generation.

The venom that got spewed over DDG was over the top. Him being replaced was also a questionable priority in my book….but I think onana will be fine as soon as he finds some hands….

imagine onana conceding that cup final goal to gift city a treble, he'd never play for the club again
