Default Debt Collectors

How far will a Debt collection agency go in trying to recover a debt of
30.00 ?

Is there a cut off point at which they will write it off as not being worth it ?

I've had an initial letter which is just a polite request for me to pay.

They will write it off, but as somebody with a piss poor credit history, it's probably better off in the long run if you do pay it. The more defaulted payments you get the harder it will be in the future to get credit.

probably wouldn't put too much effort into it. But they could put you on a bad debtor blacklist which could cause you bother getting credit etc. So for the sake of 30 etc...
