Surprises me how many people - reds included - don't rate him as highly as Maradonna and others.

My no1 fave of all time anecdote about him:

"Here's a great story about George. Bill Elliot asked George if Cruyff was better than him.
George said "You're joking right? Tonight I'm going to nutmeg Cruyff first chance I get". 5 minutes in he got the ball and instead of going towards goal. He turned into midfield took it past three bewildered Dutch players. Dropped the shoulder and put it through Cruyffs legs. And while the ball was still alive and at his feet George punched the air in celebration."

Its a bit pointless debating who out of Best, Pele, Maradona, Cruyff et al were "better" IMO.

At a time when the term "world class" has been grossly devalued, they were all the genuine article - and we have been blessed to witness them. Best *was* the best, despite his flaws
