Ole all but confirmed Degea is signing in his presser today.

"it is up to David and the club when they announce it"

We probably have to do it in England due to a pen sponsor or something.

I love doom as much as the next guy but, it's hard to be gutted that our best player and the best goalkeeper in the world has signed a long contract with us.

It will probably be for silly money but unlike Sanchez, he is respected within the club and it's unlikely to upset many.

We've made this mistake at least twice before.

There may be times when it is right to hand out an enormous contract, but giving one to a player there are question marks over in terms of whether he will put in the kind of performances expected in the long term, is a mistake, the same one we made with Rooney and Sanchez.

De Gea has been great and can continue to be, but don't forget that he wanted to leave the club in the past, and was clearly unhappy to be at the club very recently, to the extent that his form was awful. That money was one of the reasons for his unhappiness, given that he is already well paid, is alarming. Whilst it would be understandable for him to be frustrated at the quality of the players in front of him, I would also worry that he may not have it in him to invest hope in the idea that a new manager can quickly change everything and make us into a top team again.

I don't think the money will make him any happier, nor optimistic, nor motivated. It feels like we are having to compensate him for having to play for us. A big comfortable contract is not the solution to this problem - if it goes wrong, we'll be stuck with him.

The club needs to be braver.

You're inventing a lot of stuff and/or believing media reports.

He wanted to play for Madrid but he didn't force it. He was happy enough to stay and then signed a new contract.

There's nothing to suggest that money is his big motivator and certainly no evidence that it effected his performance. He made a couple of mistakes, they were amplified by the media and it effected his confidence. He's human.

Now all we need to do is teach him how to throw the £#%&!ing thing and that he can come off his line once or twice a season.

Glad he’s staying; there’s many more Mingolet’s and Bravo’s out there than there are De Gea’s.

I remember reading Jordi Cruyff was on £20,000pw and being utterly confounded.

He was shit though.

Brilliant news.

Get him settled again, and we’ll have his prime years still to come.

Ole getting the world’s best goalie tied down, the defence sorted, and blooding young lads from the Academy.

Pogba next, please.

The way he came out and missed those today it might be better for him to stay put. De Gea seems to be A+ on shot stopping, C+ for everything else.

£375k-per-week, 5-year contract agreed, and he wants the armband.

Brilliant, brilliant news, and another feather in the cap for Ole.
