We could've played better and more expansive and lost. With the injuries, form and what happened last season, I'm surprised anyone is arsed about the performance and not the result.

Yes, we were unadventurous in our attacking. Yes, Scott The Scottish Player proved unequivocally that he isn’t fit to be to our main attacking midfielder. Yes, Amrabat looks like he could be beaten for pace by roadkill.

But in a game where the most important things were concentration, organisation, effort and togetherness I think those lads came up trumps today.

Against teams managed by non-neurotypical #@&%!s like Klopp and Guardiola, you know you’ve had them over when they spend the entire evening after the game whinging about being the only one’s trying and not getting what they deserved.

They were shite, a large part of that was because we were solid and resolute, and they got pissy about not being able to do exactly what they wanted.

£#%&! the Scouse bastards, £#%&! every last one of the unusual freaks.

United
Wow. Dacter just dropped a rep-worthy beast of a post from absolutely nowhere! Incredible!

Before we customarily lost £#%&!ing 4-0 and 7-0, a 0-0 at Anfield where we compromised style for substance was commonplace. We’ve have a 0-0 there under Ole and Jose and a 1-0 smash and grab under LVG. It rarely the most expansive of fixtures. It’s not the culmination of how anyone wants us to play, but yesterday was all about showing a bit of character and we did that.

The detractors are being entirely disingenuous. Every man and his dog called a comfortable Liverpool win, but then struggles to give credit when we prevent it from happening? Nah. They know damn well that’s a good result in tough circumstances.

It showed some rare maturity and acknowledgement of where we are by Ten Hag imo. We totally nullified a side at the top of the league and a crowd that’s usually totally up for it - against a team that routinely humiliates us. What was lacking was a killer punch on the counter.

It was a Mou Mou approach - should be alien to a club like United but we’re in free fall and the manager’s done one over one of the best coaches in the world who totally expected to @#%&! us.

As has been said elsewhere - when you have Klopp or Pep complaining about other teams approaches, you’ve done the right thing.

We desperately need to build off it now. He needs to stick with mainoo and amrabat - drop mctom and hope Antony Hoijlund and garnacho can one day start to fashion some more chances between them.

Great point.

I don't know many reds who were expecting anything from this game. Yeah it was shit to watch but they created £#%&! all too. Not many teams go to Anfield and keep a clean sheet.

Varane was immense. Mainoo is gonna be a star.

We need to build on this now - West Ham on Saturday is big. Get a win there and hopefully the confidence starts to come back

It was a good result. The performance however, was more piss poor stuff where at times we struggled to string 3 passes together.

Thankfully, Liverpool were shite as well.

I'm struggling to see why anyone is arsed about the performance simply because of the result.

Liverpools last 6 points have literally been handed to them by terrible officiating. They are playing shite but getting results. That's what we did yesterday.

Progression. Or lack of.

Yesterday's game was brutal from both sides. If we play like that in the next 2 suspect we won't be getting anything.

Exactly.

It has to be a stepping stone. If we do something similar at West Ham, but we show more going forward, then we can win that. Suddenly we’ve got four points from two tough away games and we can start to look at some genuine progress.

Context is everything with this one imo. We went there on a massive low and huge injuries problems. We’ve heard all season how we can’t compete with good teams and that’s the first positive results we’ve got against a ‘big’ team. We can do better and it wasn’t pretty, but it showed something most of us thought we didn’t have. That’s pleasing and encouraging. Nobody is doing cartwheels.

Edit:

Not only was the Hojlund chance the best chance of the match, it was also the best move of the match. The Garnacho chance was good build up too. We need more of these moments, but we’re seeing signs of it in small bursts.

Garnacho v Everton
Garnacho v Galatasaray
The Scottish Player v Galatasary
Martial v Everton

All really good team goals

From front to back here. Would have been a cracking goal.

We had about 13 players unavailable. Were you genuinely expecting us to be brilliant?

On watching this again the final ball from The Scottish Player is shite. Made it far harder for Rassers than it should have been.

you can be pleased with the result and the showing of some real heart and passion and defensive steel. especially when it's so frustrating for those gobshites.

and at the same time, lament the ahem, attacking performance and that we're scrambling around backs to the wall lumping it away from goal and trying to feed on scraps (the hojlund attack aside), and the fact that we find ourselves, ultimately happy not to get hammered.

the two aren't exclusive. that performance has to be the entry level for what's accepted. unfortunately it's probably been one of our best games this season.

Everyone of his passes is underhit or overhit.

With everyone for

Casemiro -Mainoo
Bruno

Has to be the central structure.

That being said who knows if Casemiro will hit the heights he did when he first joined. Post World Cup he was shocking and showing his age

Brilliant? No.

Putting in a better performance than I'd expect from a relegation threatened side? Yes.

Like I said. Good result, but the performance was piss poor and doesn't bode that well going forwards.

Unlike Private Pike to be utterly negative about absolutely anything to do with current day United, what’s happened?

Positive about the clean sheet and Mainoo, thanks.

The rest was bobbins.
