It seems people are struggling to understand the concept of bottling. Would Leicester have been called bottlers if Spurs had pipped them?

Given the position they were in, they probably would. But we’ll never know because they didn’t bottle it.

Would you call Liverpool, city, United, Arsenal bottlers if they finished 3rd in a 2 horse race with Leicester?

Only two teams could win it. Tottenham and Leicester. I’m pretty sure not many were expecting Leicester to win it with a few months left. In fact I’m pretty sure most were thinking they’d ‘bottle’ it.

We're working with different definitions of bottle here pal, Leicester are a top 8 team, they played above themselves for a season and won it, had they come 2nd-4th they would still have outperformed their natural level and thus wouldn't have bottled it. Similarly Spurs are not a top 3 team, they consistently outperform themselves and other teams with bigger budgets and better players. Whether they get close to winning before ultimately finishing second or third makes no odds, it's a lack of ability and squad depth, not bottle.

At this point of the season in 2015/16 Leicester beat City 3-1 at the Etihad
