Default Worse title defence ever?

I think Moyes did better defending Fergie's last title than Klopp has done this season.

What was the biggest drop off from champions to the next season? Leicester dropped off but was it this bad?

Did anyone ever win it then get relegated or something like that?

Not sure where Leeds finished in 92/93 but I'm pretty sure they didn't win an away game all season

It's a genuinely interesting phenomenon. A lot of it is players thinking they've arrived imo.

For me, Liverpool signing Tiago was the stupidest thing ever. So arrogant. Bringing a violin into heavy metal football. Was never going to work.

I think you also have to consider by how much they won it too. 98 points was it? 96 the year before that?

To go from those numbers to there is truly shocking.

That home record says it all. From the best run in their history to the worst run in their history. So much of that must be mental now.

A great manager would have nipped this in the bud after the second defeat....its 6 now.

I can’t help but get more suspicious of their previous success

Cliched but when you're on a bad run you go back to basics and dig out a couple of draws. This guy has no £#%&!ing idea about that. Cant imagine this happening to any of the great sides who've won the title.

They peaked a year ago... 98 points, 99 points and a European cup. Brilliant run but not sustainable.

Happens to Klopp doesn’t it.

1938, we were also promoted from the 2nd division.

Nofers attended his 1st game the following season.

PS, the blue noses were also the divisions top scorers when they went down.

In modern times yes

Pretty sure Ipswich got relegated the year after winning the league in the early 60s

Nope, finished bottom half but only got relegated the following campaign.

The last team to do it straight away are (who else?) Man City

They won the league in 1936-37 and then got relegated in 1937-38. 84 years ago, (football was interupted for about 6 years because of world war II and league football for 7. )
