Beginning to look like it. First we heard that had Mourinho decided Young & Shaw were ‘ok’ options and he wasn’t going for a LB so he can use the funds elsewhere. Fine.
Then it turns out we’ve given Fellaini a new contract so we don’t have to buy a replacement and can use the funds elsewhere. So that’s midfield business done. Fine. So who are we bringing in? Hopefully a centre back but I could easily see Mourinho turning around and saying he’s happy with our options there. Clearly not a striker. Maybe a winger, bit could again cop out with the “we have enough depth” lie, especially if Martial stays. Could be a very long dry summer |

All the noises from the club before the summer were that we were going to spend big. Stadium expansion etc were all on hold to allow for huge squad investment. I have a feeling all the scrimping and saving is Woodward making room to get his rocks off buying some mega-name with depleted abilities at a deliriously inflated price.
A lot can happen between now and the end of the window but so far, basic shit like not managing to get shut of Darmian to a very willing buyer, isn't looking great. |
