Anyway. The lad has barely had a kick and after an 88th minute equaliser for PSV, de Jong () has just put PSV ahead in extra time.

Probably delays any move for this lad with the possibility of CL football at PSV still alive, and kills Monaco’s chances of snatching Rabiot from ‘under our noses’.

We sacked the top end of the scouting system in April/May on the grounds their recommendations were shite. Tore up the plans for this summer and are relying on ETH, hiring new recruitment people and starting again.

Based on what Andy Mitten and Laurie Whitwell were saying on the podcast I listened to yesterday, the recruitment people made plenty of solid recommendations that ‘whoever’ then dithered over and lost, or didn’t want to pay the going rate for, or thought were ‘overpriced’. Examples weren’t given beyond Sesko, for who we decided £3m was a bit much in 2019 and Moises Caicedo (who ran rings round us on Sunday) at £4.5m represented a complicated risk in January 2021. Brighton bought him instead

Cancelo was the other one. Too expensive, opted for Wan Bissaka instead

Remarkable how Mitten can name-check the recommendations that were already in the public domain but add no new ones. And also claims that he knew about Arnautovic 9 days ago but couldn't mention that he knew about it until it was also in the public domain. What a scam he has going. 😂
