He did play in a midfield two alongside Dembele iirc. He and Dembele were the bridge between defence and attack, though Eriksen played the more attacking role of the two. Dele Alli was never a midfielder, more like a second striker.

Played further forward. Dier/Dembele/Winks/Sissoko in the mid. Always been an attacking mid albeit he had a great engine back in the day and covered a ton of ground (not sure if still does)

Yeah you’re right I remember now. Think he played in the 2 when Dier played as CB perhaps? But likely that wasn’t that regular. Like you say, great engine but probably shouldn’t be stretched to its limit now, for obvious reasons.

Yeah at best part of that hard-running Poch side. Never won anything but real handful. Dembele/Dier middle .. Dele/Ericksen then Son/Kane with good full backs too (Walker & Rose before he was broken?). Horrible side to play against. Not sure he will occupy a similar role in our set up unless Rashford dropped (possible)
