Coutinho showed us whose boss alright. With Gerrard as manager

Our players don’t get it whatsoever. Rio, Evra, Vidic etc would have rendered the little c*** totally ineffective.

Good first half but we caved. Again. They were walking through our midfield for almost the entire second half. Even at two up, it felt we were going to concede.

Ralf morphing into Ole with those subs.

Take off your two best attacking threats, leave on Matic and Cavani, both of whom were f***ed, and do it with minutes to go, rendering the whole thing pointless.

cavani might as well not have played (again). but it was fred's tiredness that left the midfield empty. shame we don't have defensive midfielders to bring on.

Odd. Whatever beek’s shortcomings, you’d think he would be an improvement on one of the mf, or Cavani.

Not typical of recent performances but still looks like the player’s have adopted the owners “sod the football, just enjoy the money “ attitude.

harsh. we looked bright until we tired. the wide open midfield wasn't down to attitude. the lack of urgency up til our second was maybe a bit poor.

There really is no excuse for tiredness in professional athletes after 2/3rds of a game.

The explanation is either poor coaching or an unwillingness of players to put in the effort to get themselves up to a reasonable fitness level.

RR should be a solution to the first part, transferring out the recalcitrants will be the solution to the second.

Oh, quite. A bit of frustration on my part. I think Martials antics and let’s face it, recent “efforts” linger in the memory, although I really wonder why we always look f***ed and chasing shadows whilst the oppo are coping fine. Frustrating to see us throw a 2-0 lead away but maybe some green shoots? Looks slightly better after a nights sleep. Some puzzling subs (or not) from RR, though I wouldn’t be too critical as he does appear to be weeding the malignant elements out. We just so desperately need that presence in mf

Would rather us wait until summer and attempt to get the right players in, than panic buy now and have another turd for the next 4 years who we can't flush.

We clearly need at least 2 central midfielders. So I think it's worth taking a punt on one now even if long term they aren't first choice.

Do you honestly think the board will manage to get the right players in the summer? We will spend 80% if it chasing a manager then panic and get 2nd or 3rd choice instead . It will leave a few weeks with the window before it closes and we panic buy a midfielder who will be having his own issues at the club he’s at.

I don't, as I think we need two into the starting XI.

Taking a punt reminds me of what Liverpool used to do back in the day. They'd have a similar spend to us, but s**** it on numerous dogshit players rather than concentrate it on a quality addition.

Would hope we have a longer-term plan in terms of additions, rather than taking a punt. Otherwise we are never getting out of this mess.

If you don't think they will get the right players in the summer, then I'd assume you think they have zero chance with the 2 weeks that remain in January.

All makes sense but who can trust this lot to invest where it’s needed?

Their priorities are all in the wrong places. Don’t think it was solely Woowoo but anything would be an improvement

There’s a chance they’ll sign one player in Jan . If we leave it to summer there isn’t a chance they’ll sign the minimum of 4 players that’s needed and get rid of about 5.

It’s why it needs to be done in stages. At the very best if nothing happens in Jan you can expect a couple to come in the summer and a couple to leave in the summer on loan. On and knowing us Jesse lingard will get a new 5 year deal
