The huge gulf in class was there to be seen all over the pitch.

How Barca or Madrid can be interested in any of the united players is beyond me. If that was a chance to show what they are made of they will all be here next season, although not sure that is a good thing

Pogba flirting with Madrid, after that game Madrid should have ended all interest they have in him

Of course. That’s how they force themselves ahead of the established player. I’m talking about not getting rid of the established player until that’s happened. Fergie never did.

De gea has proven that you can. Though saying he’s poor at all other aspects of goalkeeping is rather pathetic. A goalkeeper’s job is to stop the opposition scoring. Given the players he’s had in front of him this past 6 years, he’s done that better than any other goalkeeper in the world could have.

Not trying to be glib, but what exactly is it that Lingard has ‘established’ other than that he doesn’t do very much besides float around?

It’s far and away their main job, but certainly not their only job. You know how vital a keeper with good, quick distribution can be to a team looking to counter. They can also make it easier for the back line to do their main jobs too.
