btw, vidic's reading of the game has improved immeasurably since he arrived. he's rarely not in position to cover one of the full backs and is across very quickly if somebody gets past his partner. it was especially apparent during the games with evans where he did some magnificent work covering when required.
Indeed. I think Vidic's best moments this season have been on the occassions where he's had to rescue Evans from rare mistakes and signs of naivity.

Rio used to do that with Vidic. So to see Vidic showing genuine authority and experience shows how much he's grown.

He's real captain material too. Contrary to a few years ago when Keano retired, we have an abundance of players who would make good captains now or in the future. Neville is the captain, but Rio is the unspoken captain IMO. VDS and Giggs have a calming, experienced influence. Vidic and Rooney have a 'grrrr' mentality that others look up to. And I still think Hargreaves would make a good captain, but he obviously needs to focus on being able to walk first.

Spot on both you and borsuk about his improvement in terms of covering and general awareness.

As to being captain material I'm not that bothered as I've said before who wears the armband. It's having leaders on the pitch that matters and as you say Vidic has become one and one of a good number we now have at the club which is great for the team.

We should definitely buy Curtis Davies and make him captain.

Well he'd clearly get in ahead of Vidic.
