If Chelsea offer him a job, he'd be stupid to turn it down. United may never come knocking. The man is 57 in a few weeks, he can't wait forever.

Why?

He's well paid, popular with teh fans, has an owner who will spend money, has got a team together and is under about 500% less pressure. Some would say he'd be mad to leave Villa.

With all these old school managers coming out of the woodwork why not have a cheeky punt on Trevor Francis?

Whatever glamour was associated with the Chelsea job may already be finished. They're starting to look like a spent force, and a badly run one at that.

It depends what your ambitions are.

Whether they are to compete to finish in the top 4, or to compete with a realistic chance of winning the league and champions league nearly every season.

Villa are more stable in terms of job security. But you have to take a risk at some point. It's not like he is a young manager who is learning his trade, he is approaching 60.

Agree with your your point But.......

If he wants to win the PL & CL he'd have a far better chance of doing it with Chelsea than Villa (not that chelsea will win either this season).

Not sure O'Neill is the kind of guy to jump ship mid-season. he's always seemed pretty honourable in comparison to many other managers. I'd think he'd want to at least try to get Villa in the top 4 this season. Maybe he'll think differently in the summer if they don't make it.

Cech: on the wane, at least temporarily and maybe never as good as he was pre-Reading again

Carvalho: regularly injured

Essien: a major loss, of course

Drogba: disaffected by the looks of it

Hardly surprising they sacked their manager, then

Would he? They need re-building and Roman wants to balance the books. It's not the dream ticket it was.
