I think, from memory, he had to be relieved of his duties after numerous complaints from players that his head was continuously mistaken for the ball that season when the premier league balls were pink. Or orange.

Alan ‘Curbs’ Curbishley believes the fat oaf’s head to have led to his teams’ relegations down the years.

I remember being delighted ITV ditched him from the champions league coverage and the following season he showed up stateside. One of the worst voices in the game.
