Thing is it's always changing, because we're always playing catch up because of the previous summer's £#%&!wittery. The Sánchez nonsense spooked everybody.
But why did it change so quickly? It was the board that gave Sanchez his contract not Mou, if they thought it was too much money maybe dont give it to him

Who is holding Woodward to account on his £25m spent on sacking managers in the last 5 years? Shocking that.

Woodward and mourinho were probably in agreement over transfers at the time. The glazers likely hadn’t issued instructions not to spend more without selling first at that point. Woodward’s idea of following those instructions was to avoid the manager all summer and then leak stories after deadline day to pass the blame for lack of activity onto mourinho whilst undermining him with the players.

Woodward’s management genius at work yet again. Could cost the club champions league qualification and has cost £20 million compensation plus another £7m or 40 depending on who they hire out of Ole and pochettino. Couple this with his wage negotiations that leave players on hugely inflated contracts. Yet somehow he gets credit for making the club money.

There's a fair bit of common sense in that though it somewhat whitewashes Mourinho's responsibility for this desperate state of affairs, which is why the last defeated vestiges of Team Mou are all over it.

Woodward took Mourinho because Mendes preyed on his vulnerability and largesse, and didn't look too closely at what he was doing. When circumstances (ie the prospect of adding to a badly ageing dog's breakfast of a squad with just more of the same) called for a rethink he wasn't on board with it and went nuclear.

Also completely ignores the £70-odd million we did spend last summer and the fact Mou insisted on a new deal off the back of his first season and started fluttering eyelashes at PSG quite publicly, somewhat forcing United’s hand. Naive from Woodward nqat, as many of us pointed out at the time, standard Mou M.O. is to get that extension off the back of early success before carefully orchestrated breakdown, sack and payoff. Never served a single year of a contract extension in his career IIRC.

Actively trying to get sacked from the Seville game onwards tbh. Amazing he still has the wool pulled over the eyes of some..

Mourinho is an absolute @#%&!. United caught on too late.

No surprise the payout was huge. Would have happily paid £19m for these last two months though.

If they added the word "Syndrome" to that picture it would help to explain some of the absolute dribble in the porridges on here who backed the @#%&! to the bitter end.

So, if Ole manages to get 4th this season, he’s wiped that spend out.
Cos there’s no £#%&!ing way on earth we’d get 4th if The @#%&! was still here.
