Obvs it's £#%&! all to them but the football transfer world is £#%&!ed. They've broken the record for defenders 3 times in less than 12 months. They're obscene bastards Quote:

It's all to do with amortisation
Mendy's purchase and salary are spread over the contract period. May also depend on how the initial fee is structured. Assume Wages of 200k pw then its around £50 m transfer + £50m in wages = 100m which is £20m per year so doesn't look so bad especially when all the wages of the stiffs have gone. If you can increase revenue by say £100m you can afford these deals but if revenue stalls or decreases you're £#%&!ed. |

The people that own them, own the airline on their shirt sponsor, it's such a transparent £#%&!ing sham. Etihad Airways (owned by the royal family), The Abu Dhabi tourist board, Etisalat (an abu dhabi based telephone network) and Aabar an abu dhabi based investment firm.. |

They're probably reducing the overall wage bill to help spread the cost, but it's still crazy money and they're not finished. |
