mourinho has played a blinder here.

makes you realise how good his man-management is (especially compared to the last fella) that he could phase rooney out with barely a peep out of anyone in dissent ...

personally still hope rooney stays, but we're going up a notch next season and he could barely keep up at our current level, so it's unlikely imo.

Jose's said before 'I would never force a legend out of the club. He can make his own choices but I would never ask him to go' (paraphrasing a bit there). Then starts him just 24 times in a 63 game season.

Rooney has stated he will finish his England career after the next tournament with the hope he can retire not only as England's record goal scorer but also record appearance maker (he only needs 7 games).

Southgate drops him from two successive England squads stating Rooney needs to be playing regularly to be considered but both times stressing that he's a great player with a lot to give.

Rooney has a meeting with Jose where you can bet your house he's been told he won't be playing any more than he did this season and in all probability, a lot less.

Rooney gets asked if he's decided what he's going to do and replies "More or less, Yeah."

Game Over.

Absolutely astonishing player for 6 years. Good player for 3. Passenger for 3. Has all the records, wages and medals anyone could ever wish for. Thanks for everything Wayne, you were truly fantastic. Time to go.

Other than Everton or United, yes.

He will go there unless Everton offer something very low.

Dont forget, we still want a fee,

He should go to China. He'll make double what he's currently on instead of taking a large paycut at Everton, plus he'll have an easier time playing against those kinda players. ....

Thought he said (in between a beer and meat pie chaser) that he'd only play for United or Everton in England
