surely the point about berbatov behind rooney is that either the movement off him was very poor or else he didn't get the ball when he should have because they were trying to feed rooney asap

even in marseille there was a moment when he got the ball into feet and drifted out wide, dragging his man out of the centre. he then popped it off to fletcher for the simple return ball that would've freed him. typically fletcher just moved the ball on infield. thus berbatov, the nearest thing we had to a conductor on the pitch at that time, was taken out of the game by his own £#%&!ing team-mate's failure to read the play.

fair dos, i was going by impression and shit memory but there's no arguing with that. as someone said, hernandez and bebatov have looked a natural pairing whenever i've seen them, no idea how productive as a pair though. and rooney needs a kick up the arse in any case imo.
