[SIZE="4"]Man United - Last 5 League Games [SIZE="4"]Watford - Last 5 Premier League Games [SIZE="4"]Team News: Man United: Pogba out injured, but was banned anyway; Varane out, Cavani is a doubt after missing the City game and being left out of Uruguay's squad. Luke Shaw may be available after missing the internationals with a concussion suffered against City. Rashford and The Scottish Player should be available after illness. Watford: Juraj Kucka is suspended Peter Etebo and Ken Sema are missing with long term injuries, as well Christian Kabasele who is recovering from a hamstring issue. [SIZE="4"]Previous Meeting: We last met Watford at Vicarage Road almost two years ago and right on the verge of Christmas, on the 22nd December 2019. Unfortunately De Gea and a few others made it a Christmas to forget. In a relatively quiet first half, De Gea tried to throw the ball into his own net. Luckily at the time it was ruled out after the officials adjudged De Gea to be fouled. It was a soft decision considering the amount of shit on him that gets let go most of the time. Jesse Lingard then found himself one on one with Ben Foster after being put clean through by Martial. He tried to chip him. Enough said. In the second half and not happy that the officials ruled out his earlier attempt to throw the ball into his own net, De Gea decided to rise to the occasion. Not 5 minutes into the restart our opponents had a set piece (sure I type that every matchday thread…), the ball got lumped into the box and got flicked on by a Watford player, finding it’s way to Sarr in acres of space. Luckily he £#%&!ed up his shot and smashed it into the ground, but that wasn’t going to deter De Gea who managed to catch absolutely £#%&! all and let the ball slip right between his arms and into the net. AWB then gave away a stone wall penalty, as Deeney’s head was the only one in the Watford squad that could compete with Maguires in terms of sheer mass, he was chosen to take it, and he converted it easily enough etc etc. We had two attempts towards the end of the game, both of which were smashed straight at a goalkeeper who is a better cyclist than he is a footballer. Shite. [SIZE="4"]Match Tit Bits Watford have lost 12 out of 14 Premier League games against us, the most out of any sides they have faced. We have won 18 of our 26 games against Watford in top-flight football (win ratio of 69%). From teams we have faced 20 times or more in top-flight football we only have a better win percentage against Luton Town (playing 30, winning 22, win percentage of 73%). No team has failed to score as many times as Watford in the Premier League this season (7 times). However in three of the four games they have scored in so far this season they scored at least 3 goals. We are winless in our last three league games against newly promoted teams (West Brom, Leeds and Fulham in the second half of last season). We haven’t gone four league games in a row without a win since a run that ended in September 1997. Bit of a shit tit-bit this one, because we @#%&!ted Leeds, as well as beating Fulham and West Brom in the first half of last season which is when I’d consider them ‘newly promoted’. But whatever. Watford have conceded at least once in their last 21 league games which is their longest run in the top flight without a clean sheet. As we’re also £#%&!ing shocking at keeping clean sheets recently, expect goals. [SIZE="4"]Match Prediction:
I said “expect goals” just above. So it’ll be a drab 0-0. |
