I like the Villa statement, none of that mutual agreement %@#$&!s. Just straight out with "results aren't good enough".

I doubt they've actually bothered to look at why they're not good enough.

They spent over £50m this summer and often have the 7th highest wage bill in the country. After Sunderland, they're one of the biggest underachievers in terms of money. Though the idea of a club's potential being judged almost solely on their budget is undermined by Southampton and Swansea, surely? To me it's a club with plenty of potential, but they always hire shit managers.

When you give a new manager like Sherwood the funds and backing to reshape the squad, you'd like to think you have enough belief in them to let them have more than ten games to find their way. He is clearly clueless, but they should have spotted that earlier.
