Brendan, nailed on. It's about his level and I think he'll do fairly well there.

To me it's a club with plenty of potential, but they always hire shit managers.

When you give a new manager like Sherwood the funds and backing to reshape the squad, you'd like to think you have enough belief in them to let them have more than ten games to find their way. He is clearly clueless, but they should have spotted that earlier.

Lots of young French players. Might be a decent bet.
£50m? It was £7m net, pretty sure that was the lowest in the league.

The season before it was £8m.

With all the new TV money the clubs have now they are poor totals. They've had an awful squad for years and they're not spending to add to it. They've been completely left behind.

Yes Southampton and Swansea have done well, they're two of the best run clubs in the league and both have picked their managers well. But it's nearly impossible to have a poor squad, invest just £7m more and expect to live comfortably in the Premier League.

On one hand: Ha, good, £#%&!ing @#%&!

On the other hand: Brummie #@&%!s might get a manager who keeps them pointlessly in the top flight for another year

Yes it was largely the Benteke money, but they have still spent £50m+ and also committed big wages to Richards and Sinclair on free transfers. Their wage bill is a lot higher than their league position. Don't get me wrong, they aren't big spenders, but they are right to feel they should be getting more for their money.

Club has invariably been run by numpties, though. Partly responsible for poor recruiting in the market, I expect.

Someone actually sent in a comment to the BBC score update page yesterday saying Sherwood should be given time because Ferguson was and look how that turned out....

Sherwood is of course a bullshitting arse who has been found out, but as with their Brum rivals what Villa really need is new ownership.

Why would you effectively give the ceo role of a company to somebody who has effectively passed a city and guilds ? It was bound to fail.
