has howard webb reached the status of 'character' yet? you know, the point at which a person's rank incompetence ceases to matter because he's got a funny voice/shouts a lot/is interestingly bald/wears the kind of clothes oxfam would reject etc?

I don't think its always possible to tell whether there has been contact when you're the player in Osman's position there. I've had similar happen to me where I thought there had been contact.

Talking of which, did anyone see him go running through out wide yesterday on MOTD and clip his own heels to get a free kick.

This is true.

Now, does anyone know if there's a manager prepared to spend massively over the odds for English players playing at lower level Premier League teams? If we could get say, hmm, £35m, we could 'do a Newcastle' in the January window.

Chelsea are after a winger I think.

Can't see the dippers buying another LW now they have £20m Stewart Downing.

He's £#%&!ing shit. Seems to be able to find decent positions and space though, just can't do anything with the ball when he gets it.
