He's been the best signing this season in terms of impact on the team. Defensively he reads the game so well. Always in the right place at the right team to tidy up and stop the opposition from progressing. I knew he was great at that from his time at Real Madrid when he was the one doing the hard under appreciated job to allow Modric and Kroos to thrive. What has come as a great bonus is how good he is on the ball too. He has good vision, creates chances, doesn't hide from receiving the ball in tight scenarios and can stride forward with a lot of elegance.

Maybe I don't watch Real enough to know he always had this in his locker but he's a joy to watch for United. When he's out there you can tell he oozes calm to the other players. Under Ferguson we didn't really buy another first team midfielder after Hargreaves in 2007. After Ferguson we've signed several midfielders. Some of them did a job for a while but clearly limited. Pogba had all the talent but it didn't work out the way it should have. Casemiro is setting the standard where it should have always been. Thank god Rabiot's mother scuppered that deal.
