Default English football writer?

Am looking for the name of one particular guy, always liked listening to him. He was very well known, he died a few years ago. Would have been getting on in age, he always seemed lethargic when he was on tv, spoke slowly, never got flustered, needed a good shake tbh. Don't know what paper he wrote for, he wrote books on Utd and England though, I know that is bugger all to go on but its £#%&!ing annoying me.

Anyone?

Nope, not them. I'd say he died maybe five or six years ago but when I eventually get it I'll find he likely died 20 years ago

I saw Des in Carlow a few weeks ago. He was handing Bibles out to people outside a shopping center. Looked very gaunt and pale.

Well, I think it was Des Lynan anyway.
