True. They say ‘intentional’, but in reality, it should be classed as ‘avoidable’. That seems to be the deciding factor. Could he have avoided handling it? In this instance, yes. He seems to try very hard to get himself in the way, including his arm, it’s not too dissimilar to just throwing your whole body at the ball on the goal line. You’re looking to block it with anything.

Intent does seem an odd thing to take into consideration. Players rarely intend to cause an offence in the box, because they know it’ll be a penalty. They still commit them though. Players don’t intend to do a lot of things on the pitch, but they’re still punished. Maybe we should disallow own goals that fly in off a defending blocking a cross because “well, he couldn’t help it, could he?”

I get the feeling that Scholes meant it as a dig at Ralf but really it makes the players look like the bunch of mercenary @#%&!s they are

Oh God, no, because that might actually take some guts and conviction. No surprise that it’s him, is it? Fitting that one of the biggest let downs and flashy #@&%!s is one of the ones moaning.

Who are the suspected others? Henderson? Bailly? Rashford? More shit@#%&!s who have done £#%&! all, but they’re the first to complain about standards.

Meanwhile, you don’t hear that it’s coming from the ones who are decent pros like Varane, Matic or Mata.

£#%&! the little rat. Heads the queue with Pogba as someone I can’t wait to see out the door.

I don’t disagree, however, Lingard was around to see the back end of the Fergie years so probably knows what a good dressing room looks like.

Would still like to know what the issues are. Are there divisions? players not getting on? It’s clear there’s a huge lack of leadership outside of Ronaldo.

Say what you want about Ole, but the same was said when Jose was there and he came in and got them all pulling in the right direction and a year ago you would’ve said one of the best things was that the dressing room seemed United in a way it hadn’t for ages. What the actual duck has gone wrong?
