Danny Welbeck to go on loan to Preston

Preston North End boss Darren Ferguson is set to secure Manchester United youngster Danny Welbeck on loan.

The 19-year-old has made only one Premier League start for United this term and now the Reds are out of the FA Cup and planning a strong line-up in the Carling Cup semi-final second leg, his chances look limited.

Ferguson's father, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, believes his attacking options are good enough with Mame Biram Diouf joining Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen and Federico Macheda, so will loan him to Preston.

Welbeck will follow in the footsteps of David Beckham who honed his skills at Deepdale before rejoining United 15 years ago.

be good for him to get first team football as a centre forward in tead of sporadic appearances out wide for us

he has a bit about him and its better not to stagnate

Welbeck has a lot of ability, he is very raw though, but every so often he will do something that indicates genuine class.

Good move for him, stagnation in the reserves has been the bane of many of our young players, would be looking to get Macheda a move as well.

Yep, good move. Hopefully he can score a bagful in the Championship so we at least get a decent price for him if/when he does go.

Can't do him any harm as you say he's stagnating in the reserves at the moment & that looks to have affected his confidence.

has potential but not sure if hes any better than frazier campbell or ebanks-blake

That'll be the last we ever see of him. Expect a permanent transfer this summer and a brown envelope or two to change hands.

if he plays week in week out he might learn the value of passing it a little earlier, team play etc... tries a bit hard when he's in to make a big impact when playing it simple helps the team instead of himself.
