Football Manuel Ugarte

Seeing as we're knocking up threads for each player linked.

This one is the sort of transfer I am looking at as most important.

Our competition is Chelsea, so £#%&! them, and PSG - so... also £#%&! them & they're losing Messi & want to loan Neymar out which leaves Mbappe & a shit league to think about.

Ugarte is a defensive midfielder at Sporting, 22 & Uruguayan - stats wise he's only been topped by Kante since people started measuring these things with regards to interceptions & he's repped by the wider Jorge Mendes umbrella.

Anyway - he's the sort of young, pressing / game reading top prospect that I think we should be interested in rather than throwing £70m at Mount for a position we don't need. We absolutely do need someone like this guy.

YouTube - I don't need to tell you to mute the poxy thing:

He's a class act. At least half the price of Declan Rice (his buy-out clause is £53m) I'd guess but you never know what you're going to get. Anyway, our name is in the hat as a possible destination alongside the others at the moment but I'm hopeful.

They are signing Mac Allister for similar money. Not sure if they’re throwing more at this kid, but I hope not.

Chelsea… you’d have to hope we’re not funding it by taking Mount at an inflated fee.

Different player to Mac Allister. They’re losing Milner, Henderson is a sub at best, Thiago injury prone and Fabinho has mileage on him, I’d expect them to get 2 midfielders at least.

Just like we funded Tchouameini/Bellingham..

You're never seen him play. Or if you have you barely noticed him.

I met John Barnes at a charity thing a bit of a while ago, or something, and during our conversation I asked him who he thought would be the ideal defensive midfielder for one of the top premiership sides to sign this summer. He told me “Ugarte, to hold and give, but do it at the right time…”

well.... one of us certainly looks stupid now.

my research is exhaustive. he makes fewer mistakes than fred. that, as andy pointed out, is what makes him a differential player - limited slips. you, my friend, are missing the indicators here. maybe we'll park this for later.

and he's not just a dm - he hustles up the middle with the ball like shaw - so, defensive/driving - shaw's play on the wing mirrors ugarte's.

neutral observers rate him and that good enough for me. I think this move is closer than it appears.

That would be telling..

Seriously though, he’s ace from what I’ve seen, makes far too much sense for us to be interested, we’re far more likely to try and chuck stupid money at Rice, Mount or even de Jong again..

Tbf is a choice between them and PSG. Not a hard choice tbh
