Getting into the CL back the back door.
Apologies if this has been already posted, i did have a look but couldn't see it.
UEFA seem highly likely to approve a change to the CL that will allow entry to 2 clubs that have failed to qualify for the CL, based on their 'historical performance' in the competition. The current list of most past wins is:
(Just below are Juve, Benfica, Notts Forest & Porto - all on 2 wins). Spain - Top 4 qualify for the CL. Italy - Same. England - Same. German - Same. Dutch - Top 2 (2nd goes into qual. rounds). It's over 20 yrs or more since Real or Barca finished outside of the top 4. Nearer 30 for Bayern. Over a decade since Ajax finished lower than 2nd. So that leave the 2 Italian teams, the Liverpool & us. Liverpool are pretty much guaranteed eternal CL qualification. The Italian teams have had poor league form recently - 3 times in the past 10 years, neither team has finished in the top 4. Even with the 2 Milan teams being inconsistent, it would still seem that United will be pretty certain of CL qualification every season (in the near future at least), regardless of where we finish. Which means that once these changes are confirmed, there is even less incentive for the Glaser parasites to do anything serious about investing in the team. Just a never-ending cycle of mediocre managers for 2-3 yrs, the odd big name signing & the money continuing to be siphoned out of the club. |

Looking at the co-efficient table, Ole getting us to that Europa Final could actually come in quite handy….. |

AC Milan in 43rd place. Rangers in 38th. 7 time winners lower placed than a team who has done the square root of precisely £#%&! in all in Europe? |

Juve would be ahead of Forest as Juve have been runners-up 7 times. And yes rank Forest higher than City. Cos £#%&! City. |

From the UEFA website: The final two places will go to the clubs with the highest club coefficient over the last five years that have not qualified for the Champions League group stage but have qualified either for the Champions League qualification phase, the Europa League or the Europa Conference League. Quote:
Clubs' coefficients are determined EITHER the sum of all points won in the previous five years OR the association coefficient over the same period, whichever is the higher. The season coefficient of an association is calculated by adding up the points obtained by all its clubs in a given season in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), UEFA Europa League (UEL) and UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) then dividing the total by the number of clubs from that association that took part in the three UEFA club competitions in question. |
