I can see both sides of it really but most of the advice seems to be to not give directly to beggars but to give to a shelter or similar instead.

Thoughts?

In light of the transgender v lesbian debate linked on the transgender thread, if a woman refuses to sleep with a beggar, is she prejudiced?

A sheleighleigh is shorter and stouter, but yes, the knob stick is similar lightweight version. I got it when I had the prosthetic knee. I don't actually need it to walk any more, but around the north station on dark winter nights it's quite useful in deterring the scammers who want to relieve me of the heavy burden of my wallet and phone. It has a metal tip on the other end, which is normally covered by a rubber piece so it looks like a proper walking stick.

It's not much but acknowledging homeless people is a big thing, don't make them feel like they're invisible. the world is cruel and hard, it's important to do something kind every day.
lad who aways sits outside the waitrose near me and funnily enough his dog is called sparky , always give him spare change

Only ever give to people with dogs, seem more genuine for some reason

There does seem to be more in Manchester over the last few years from what I can tell. Heard a posh woman at the Christmas markets last year say to her husband - “They should remove them from public areas”

Felt like setting fire to the horrific b****.

Seeing the poor f***ers huddled together comatose on Spice in an alcove on Market Street is horrible. Nobody chooses that life.

Most here are transmigrants trying to get enough money to pay the smugglers to get them to the UK.
