Premier League clubs are set to end their early closure of the transfer window

The issue will be raised at a Premier League meeting next week and there is growing support for the early closure to be scrapped.

The failure of the leagues in Spain, Italy and Germany to follow England’s lead has confirmed the view of some wavering clubs that the experiment has just allowed an advantage to rival teams on the continent.

The issue will be raised at the Premier League chairmen’s meeting on September 12, and will need 11 of the 20 clubs to support reverting to the end of August.

Good to see us rejoining the continent. Turns out regulatory divergence didn’t convey so many benefits after all.

The way they did it, for the reasons they did, is stupid.

Why not close it for same league purchases once the prem kicks off but teams can still buy from outside of England...like they can sell to outside of England.

Mongs.

Don’t think so?

I seem to remember Taibi signed the year after in September?

Could (probably) be wrong though.

Not sure if posted. Sounds a promising picture.

You wouldn’t have a situation, like at United, where Jose Mourinho actually said no to bidding for Virgil van Dijk in the January 2018 window because he didn’t want a centre-half at that point, only to then decide he absolutely needed one above anything else a few months later. The thinking is far too joined up at City. The different parts of the club are all joined up. One complaint at United is that there is nothing really wrong with the scouting, as such, it’s that the departments don’t seem to complement each other. They’re not feeding an overall plan.
Mou, mate....
