It's interesting that he has gone today, on deadline day (for us). Inter had another couple of weeks to get this over the line.

We must have set a deadline of today so we can get a replacement or spend the money elsewhere. It's hard to think of another explanation.

Mandzukic is the obvious candidate but maybe we'll get a surprise.

Could be we wanted all distractions gone before our season starts?

Mandzukic seems like the cheap and simple option.

A loan possibly for someone else?

With his wages and fee I think the deal would be close to 30m

He’s 33...

Wasnt there a reported fee of £7m knocking around?

And he would replace Lukaku on the wage bill.

Assuming he's getting a 2+1 contract, that's £220k a week

It's hard to imagine he's on half of that at the moment.

What have they been thinking for the last 14 years?

Well er, for the majority of those we were still actually winning titles and competing.

Not everyone can just give up their ST and sod off abroad, it's a hard decision if you've had it for years or decades.

From an interview with one of the PES 2020 lead developers

Quote:
“We’re not making 90 minutes of football, we’re making ten minutes of highlights,” he says, using his controller to emphasise the point. “When you’re playing with Lionel Messi, you need to feel like you are him through the controller. If you’re using Virgil van Dijk this year, for example, you can just push the small guys off the ball. If you’re using Romelu Lukaku, his first touch won’t be great.”

The naïve kid in me is hoping against hope they have got something up their sleeve, the realist in me knows there will be no further signings with the usual excuses trotted out.

The bottom line is our business is done and it has been a good summer for the Glazers and the accountants not the football club
