Turns out that just throwing a load of inexperienced young players into a dysfunctional team set up doesn't really work that well in the cynical world of the Premier League. And anyone suggesting just plucking out another kid from the reserves to throw into the blender must be daft. The leap from u23 football to premier league is enormous.

Let's not sugar coat it, there's a very real possibility, given our rapid downward trajectory since March that we are in for a relegation battle this season.

I'm sure some will scoff and laugh at that suggestion but unless this team does a completely 180 in terms of performances, that's a very real possibility.

5 wins in 24 games is most definitely relegation battle form.

Big Sam in after Christmas to save our bacon. Wouldn't leave it any longer than that.

Hes a lump, but he'll score goals. I'm happy to sell him if we replace those goals. We will sell him and hope others step up. Theres a pretty big chance nobody will.

And then, our humiliation is complete.

This is what people craved back in the 2000s. I distinctly remember the uber-reds saying they'd love United to be shit again to get rid of the "day trippers" so they could wallow in their middle-aged, misty eyed, 70s nostalglia.

I hope they're enjoying it, the £#%&!ing cretins.

Indeed. Can't go back though. United being shit will only be fun again after at least another ten years of us being shit.

Imagine what these 2 lads could do with some actual footballers behind them.

Liverpool are probably the best team in the world atm () with a midfield that is simply hard working, diligent and functional.

Got to say was dubious about Martial in particular. But he could go on a run. Working his arse off past two game as well

Like the penny has suddenly dropped. Doesn;t even need to score when he's working this hard.

Completely on him btw.

Agreed. If he applies himself this way consistently I don’t think anyone would have a problem with him. However he does need to improve his positioning, especially on crosses. Create a bit of separation, make near post runs, win a few in the air and hit that six yard box consistently for the scruffy tap-ins.
