Ah well, you live and learn. Make sure any sons you have don't piss away similar opportunities.

lets face it pubesy probably wouldn't have made it big time. he'd be plying his trade in the conference north and the world may have been denied rollasole.

Not surprised he's ended up in Turkey.
He's a great example of natural ability being a small part of what a player needs to succeed at the highest level. Technically, he's as gifted as just about anyone in the game.

Luke "Sonny" Pike (born 1984) was an English footballer who became famous at a young age for his tremendous talent which saw him being compared to other famous stars such as Diego Maradona and George Best.[Pike's talent was present from an early age and led to his signature for Dutch side Ajax at the age of only seven. Pike was playing for the Leyton Orient youth team at the time. He was described[by whom?] as a player who, "had a lot of skill, could pass it and was a nice player, but he lacked pace."

However, the pressure on Pike led to both his personal mental breakdown in 2000 and the collapse of his parents' marriage.[2][3] Pike's collapse has been used as a warning to other young athletes, such as Cherno Samba and Rhain Davis.[5]

After leaving Ajax, Pike returned to England and played non-league football with teams including Stevenage Borough, Barnet, Enfield, Waltham Forest and Dryburgh Saints, all under his birth name of Luke Pike.
What a loser.

Freddy Adu has to be very high on the list.... supposed to be the best football player ever to come out of America, then proceeds to fail in the Portuguese & French leagues before being loaned out to some shitty little Greek side

more of a player who impressed at youth level (maybe cause he was most likely a decade older than the other kids) and couldn't follow through in the big leagues. and I'm sure he was given the curse of pele at some point

Not many recall him as being a talent. He could possibly have done much more at a bigger club in his prime.
